2017 Honda Odyssey Safety Features

Safety is a top priority for every Honda vehicle, and that’s especially true for family vehicle, and that’s especially true for family vehicles like a minivan. The 2017 Honda Odyssey safety features are state -of-the-art, bringing active, passive, and driver-assist technologies to New England Drivers. We hope you never have to put the Odyssey’s features to the test, but if you do, you should have confidence i these technologies to keep you and your family safe.

Active Safety Amenities

Active safety features are those that are constantly helping, alerting the driver to potential dangers and even automatically controlling the engine and braking performance to keep you in control.

2017 Honda Odyssey Vehicle Stability Assist Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA):

This safety system monitors the position of the Odyssey’s tires and how it corresponds to your steering wheel. If it senses the two don’t match up and the vehicle is experiencing an over-steer or under-steer event, VSA can adjust engine performance and brake pressure to stabilize the vehicle and keep you in control.

2017 Honda Odyssey driving down a road Advanced Braking Features: Few safety features are as important for a vehicle as the brakes, and the Odyssey ensures your brakes perform at their best with anti-lock brakes that engage during hard braking, electronic brake force distribution that ensures each wheel receives the right amount of braking power, and brake assist, which deploys full braking force automatically during emergency braking.

Honda Odyssey 18″ Wheel Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS):

If one tire is low on air, it can throw off the performance of an entire vehicle. TPMS is standard on the Odyssey and can sense if any of your tires are under-inflated, indicating you should fill them up and check for any nails or screws that may have punctured them.

Honda Odyssey Headlight Daytime Running Lights:

Headlights make it easier for you to see the road, but they also make it easier for other drivers to see you—and the same is true during the day. Daytime running lights switch on automatically and brighten up the front end, making the Odyssey more visible and easier to avoid.

Honda Odyssey Forward Collision Warning:

This available Honda safety feature uses radar sensors to detect when the Odyssey may be approaching another vehicle too quickly, issuing you a warning with enough time to slow or stop the vehicle and avoid the accident.

2017 Honda Odyssey merging onto a busy highway Lane Departure Warning:

This advanced safety feature is available on upper trim levels and uses a front-mounted camera to monitor the markings on the road. If it senses that the lane markings are moving to the left or the right—indicating a possible drift—the system issues audio and visual warnings to bring your focus back to the road

Passive Safety Features

Some of the most important 2017 Honda Odyssey safety features, the ones that protect occupants during a collision, sit passively, waiting to deploy.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure:

The ACE body structure is the frame on which the entire Odyssey is built, and it has been tirelessly engineered for safety. Common collision areas have been reinforced and the structure features special crumple zones that can help redistribute energy in an accident.

Airbags: Between the dual-stage multi-threshold front airbags, Smart Vent front side airbags, and three-row side curtain airbags (with rollover sensing), the Odyssey is prepared to cushion all passengers in the event of a collision or rollover event.

Three-Point Seat Belts:

Each of the Odyssey’s eight available seating positions includes three- point seat belts to secure passengers during an accident. Front seats also include automatic tensioners and a seat belt reminder so the driver and front passenger don’t leave without buckling up.

Active Head Restraints:

The driver and front passenger each have active head restraints, engineered to move forward during a collision and cushion the head, reducing the risk of head- and neck-related injuries.

Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH):

It’s necessary for child safety seats to be anchored securely and easily. The LATCH system allows Odyssey owners to do just that, anchoring the base and tethering the top of a seat to the special hooks. Anchors and tethers are found in both the second and third rows of seating.

Child-Proof Rear Door Locks:

It’s good for a child to be curious, but it can be dangerous if what they’re curious about is that rear door handle. Standard child-proof rear door locks keep your kids secure in the backseat until you stop and open the sliding door up from the outside.
